    From the Author
A collection of rare and very effective hamstring and hip exercises offered by Dr. Nicholas Romanov, a world renowned authority on running and coach to many elite and olympic level athletes worldwide.

"The largest muscles in the body, the hamstrings are the workhorses of the runner. Responsible for releasing the body from support and allowing it to free fall, they work harder than any other muscles while you are running and must be properly prepared, not only to perform well, but also to avoid injury."

Dr. Nicholas Romanov developer of Pose Method

Nicholas Romanov, Ph.D. is a developer of the Pose Method® and a bestselling author of the book by the same title, "The Pose Method® of Running". He was born, raised and educated in Russia, but decided to relocate to United States in early 90's.

A man of humble beginnings, Dr. Romanov became a star Track & Field athlete, a champion with several records in high-jump standing unmatched for years, coached champions, conducted a significant body of scientific research, wrote two groundbreaking books on technique & training as well as published numerous scientific papers, and started a revolution by pointing out Gravity as the leading force in human movement. He dedicated a large portion of his professional life to helping people understand and benefit from better understanding of the role of Gravity in proper and efficient movement.

In 2002, alongside Prof. Tim Noakes, et al., Dr. Romanov conducted and, in 2004, published in Medicine & Science in Sports & Exericses a groundbreaking scientific study that demonstrated how to reduce, by virtually 50%, the impact on the knees in running.

Throughout his extensive career, Dr. Romanov had worked with numerous elite athletes in various athletic disciplines and the members of National & Olympic Teams of 5 countries: United States, Great Britain, Russia, El Salvador and Mexico, taking the British Triathlon National Team to 2000 Olympics in Sydney and 2004 Olympics in Athens.

At the 2012 Paralympic Games in London, UK, Dr. Romanov's athlete -a member of the Russian Paralympic Team, Elena Ivanova - won 3 Gold Medals.

He is currently working with the members of the Russian National Triathlon Team.

An Olympic Coach, author, educator and a sport scientist with 40 years of experience, Dr. Romanov specializes in:

    -sport biomechanics
    -kinesiology
-sport training theory and physical education
-training program development from elite to amateur athletes
    -exercise physiology
-injury diagnosis, prevention and exercise rehabilitation

You can tell with all POSE books & videos that this is not a high profit setup. It's more about the information than having super duper edited & illustrated material. Having said this, if you can do all the drills in this book you should be good for the next Olympics. Dr. R (for me -- 38 years old & about 10 lbs overweight) doesn't pull any punches & represents very advanced & difficult core & hamstring exercises. This is a great illustrated guide to all of the POSE exercises & again many that I find near impossible at my level of fitness point. Just cannot say enough good about the things Dr. R has put together for us runner seeking better times & less effort & pain.
