《Running on Faith: The Principles, Passion, and Pursuit of a Winning Life》读者评论:

The story of Jason Lester is amazing. How he overcame losing the use of his arm and becoming an Ultraman Champion. It would incredible to win that with all your limbs, let alone being down one. I was expecting a more personal story than a book about Ultraman competition. I certainly don't want to take away from what this guy achieved. It is incredible to ride a bike a couple hundred miles or swim five or ten with only one arm. What an achievement!

I would have loved to know how he found God and what that journey was and how it played in his eventual success. There was nothing about the years between his accident at 12 and life until he discovered Ultraman. That was just missing for me. I also struggled with his notion of the end justifies the means. That is he, in passing, mentions he suddenly has a wife and daughter, no mention of how that came about or how long; he makes the decision to get divorced because Ultraman is his calling. That would teach that your vocation is more important than your family? Doesn't work for me for inspiration.

All that matters to him is Ultraman and I have never suffered such an injury so I don't know what you go through. I know that from the book Jason is committed and is getting feeling back in his damaged arm. I respect the achievement but feel this is as much a Ultraman story as it is inspiration. Just me ...

First off, let me say that sports books are not my usual fare. I am a runner and I love classical literature but I am embarrassed to say that I have read very few sports books in my reading career, however, having heard a bit of Jason's story I was curious and I AM SO GLAD I READ HIS BOOK! This book is a page-turner and the only reason I put it down was because reading of Jason's trial and triumphs got me so fired up that I just HAD to go for a run! I love how humble Jason is throughout the book, always quick to express his gratitude for all of the people who have inspired, supported and loved him. His humility makes one start to think that we mere mortals are also capable superhuman feats...and that is most obviously Jason's whole goal in this book--to inspire the reader to chase their dreams and NEVER STOP. "Running on Faith" accomplishes this goal.

Not only is Jason's story truly inspiring, but he also really gets down to the "how-to's" of making one's dream a reality. With logical advice that comes from Jason's hard-won wisdom, the path to realizing one's aspirations becomes clearer. I can say without any reservations that having read "Running on Faith" I am definitely more confident about accomplishing my goals because I have a clear game plan, thanks to the well rounded, tried and true, wise lessons that Jason shares in this book. I feel truly blessed to have read this book and I will be recommending it to all of my friends and family--whether they be athletes, writers, musicians or anything else--they can all benefit from such sage advice as is found in "Running on Faith".
