《My Life: Everything but Buy the Book!: Part 2 of 2》读者评论:

I admit it. Even as a librarian, I'm a little scared of big books. Two reasons: 1) if they're really good I stay up all night, can't put them down, and then go to work really tired 2) if they're less good, I feel guilty not finishing them. This is part of the reason I like to read magazines... read a story, fall asleep, read another story the next day.

Well, Scott Ludwig's My Life: Everything but Buy the Book Part 2 is the best of both worlds! A really awesome book that you learn all sorts of fabulous running nuggets in... and "magazine-esque" enough that you can read a chapter (or a "day") in this case, and really enjoy it! I do really prefer to read in nuggets, and each day is a really fun read - I love that it is easy to pick back up right where you left off the night before!

Point 1. Spray Chalk. I have always figured it was some sort of "washable spray paint" that RDs used to mark courses. Now I know it's spray chalk. One of many nuggets I've never bothered to ask, but that gave me insight into a race (there are tons... read on!)

Point 2. Childhood moves and the treasures of youth...we've all held onto some "treasures" as children, and within my family at least, we've eventually thrown them all away... Scott now may be the only person I know who had a childhood treasure that really was a treasure! His trauma made me feel better about my own childhood-treasure-losses (I don't want to spoil it, wait until early October to find out).

I am reading a bit out of order as I've started at Part 2, and now will have to work backwards to Part 1, but highly recommend Part 2! Great running facts from an amazing runner, interspersed with some great personal history.

Scott has a way of telling a story about everyday life that is beyond ordinary. His book is captivating and insightful and compels you to continue reading until you find yourself immersed in reading as if you were listening to a storyteller of days of old. He has a rare gift. I am happy to say that I have found a new author to follow. Thanks Scott for sharing a part of yourself I enjoyed our time together thru reading your book.
