《Running Ultras: To the Edge of Exhaustion》读者评论:

Every now and then I've been privileged to bump into "running royalty" at a pasta dinner or such...and 20 minutes with a former elite is always a gold mine of running history and insight... this book is kind of like a full weekend of that level of awesomeness! I love Ludwig's writing style - it's full of stories, and they're all a great read... There are some serious classics here... old school races and a history of some races I've run that I didn't have any clue about. I am not remotely in the same talent level as Ludwig, but its still incredibly inspiring to read his ultra stories :)

A real treat for those of us contemplating what it's really like to run long distance events. Scott gives the reader a true behind-the-scenes look at ultramarathons by sharing his first-hand accounts of the JFK50, Badwater, Western States 100, 24-hour run, Strolling Jim, and many more. Yes, he includes some training tips and suggestions, but the narratives provide the real insight. Included also are short chapters written by members of his support crews who kept him running - no other ultra book has this kind of eye witness account. I'm thinking about running 50 miles on my upcoming 50th birthday and this book helped convince me I might just be crazy enough to survive! Highly recommended.
