    Ravings of a Runner 简介:

The book that helps motivate you to find your own runs to rave about. Every runner has great stories about their favorite spots, secret training methods, special moments - good and bad. Here a midpack runner (that ran the Boston Marathon in 2006, 2008 & 2009) shares all of his with you. If this book doesn't make you want to get up off the couch and do a workout - well at least it is still a good read. Chapter 1: That big hill Chapter 2: Marine Corps Marathon is Flat Chapter 3: Sunday morning in Paris Chapter 4: New York Marathon Chapter 5: I am so vain Chapter 6: Robbie Crusoe Chapter 7: By the time we got to Wildflower Chapter 8: The Dude & what he makes me do Chapter 9: Qualifying for Boston Chapter 10: Practicing is different from racing Chapter 11: Boston Marathon Chapter 12: Always wear a helmet

    Ravings of a Runner 读者评论:

I am an avid reader of running books, and have found very few that I am willing to put down and walk (run) away from, but after reading 80% of the book I just couldn't stomach anymore. Either the content is a bit scrambled, or the author revels in recounting events out of sequence, and referring to characters before introducing them.

In describing a run in Paris, the author suddenly refers to Travis. "Years ago we had gone out separately from Travis for a few hours". The author had never before mentioned Travis, and beyond a few short disconnected sentences, Travis isn't mentioned again for several chapters. At which time Travis shows up in a triathlon. After some sleuthing, I was able to put together that Travis is his son. His daughter is introduced in a similar fashion.

After a detailed discussion of his triathlon with Travis, and another in Wildflower, CA, the author moves on to recounting how he qualified for the Boston Marathon. Then, BANG! I found myself reading about his introduction to the sport of triathlons via a community college course and a long discussion of his training for his first short triathlon.

Either the book or the author is a bit scrambled.
